Aberdeen is a small city located at the mouth of the Chehalis and Wishkah Rivers near the Washington coast, about fifty miles west of Olympia. The city has become a pop culture landmark as the hometown of late musician Kurt Cobain, and numerous tributes can be seen across the community (including the official city motto, “Come As You Are,” the title of a song written by Cobain). Historically a lumber town and a major port city of the Pacific Northwest, Aberdeen is full of vintage buildings dating back to the 19th century, as well as the sailing ship “Lady Washington.” A short drive up Highway 101 will bring you to the gorgeous Olympic National Forest, allowing you to the region’s stunning natural beauty in all its glory.
