AVAILABLE: August 1, 2018 (or week before) RENT: $900 UTILITIES: $100 (includes gas, electric, trash/recycling, water and internet) This is a very large (522 sq ft) English style studio apartment in the basement of a 5,400 sf home. It has a full kitchen, full bathroom, cute private front porch facing the morning sun. It includes your own washer/dryer and is perfect for the grad student who wants a quiet place study, but still wants to be equidistant to 1) the downtown historic mall, 2) the Barrack's Road shopping center, and 3) the Rotunda area/the "Corner"... all about 1/2 to 1 mile. The apartment is conveniently located just over a block from the UVA bus stop at Madison Avenue. AVAILABLE AUGUST 1, 2018 for a 1-year lease. Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Only a single individual can rent the apartment (we are not permitted by the HOA of our small community to have multiple people rent the apartment so we can't take couples). Situated at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia, Charlottesville is a fiercely modern city with a reverence for the past. Two United States presidents called Charlottesville home, Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe. Thomas Jefferson designed Monticello and the University of Virginia, both of which are now UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Adjacent to Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello is James Monroe’s Ash Lawn-Highland, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Charlottesville also houses the largest collection of Aboriginal art outside of Australia, the Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection at the University of Virginia. The Jefferson Theater, the Paramount Theater, and a number of music venues in the downtown area host regular performances in Charlottesville, adding to the rich arts and cultural scene.
