Outlying Oakland County sits between two major sections of state land that serve as recreation areas and metroparks. Ranch style houses line winding roads that have been carefully constructed to run between the lakes and rivers that dominate this part of Michigan. As rural and isolated as this area might seem residents are still only forty-two miles from downtown Detroit and just 6 miles from the Oakland County International Airport.
