Originally named Baltimore City College, the building was designed by the city's premier architects in the late nineteenth century and served as one of the first high school in the country. In the early 1980's, the structure was totally renovated at a cost of $11 million. Today, Chesapeake Commons remains one of Baltimore's outstanding architectural achievements.
