In 1886, Jacob Landis chose central Pennsylvania as the perfect fit for the new factory that was to house the J. Landis Shoe Company. Noted for its impressive architecture, it was, and still is, a beacon in Palmyra's town center. The Shoe Factory is a massive building with solid brick construction and huge arched windows.
