About Union Lofts LA
Historic inside and out, yet modern at its core, the Union Lofts LA building honors its Gilded Age while transporting residents straight into the heart of the current downtown scene. Merging hip, contemporary design with architectural detail redolent of its historic Beaux Arts past, the building features soaring, hand-painted ceilings and the best of contemporary amenities. At street level, a stylish steakhouse and lounge will soon bring the best of urban living to your doorstep. On the roof, a communal lounge beckons views of downtown's Historic Core. And in between, there are 92 unique loft spaces from which to take advantage of it all.
Built in 1922 to serve as company headquarters for the Union Bank of California, the building in its heyday graced Los Angeles with all the opulence and grandeur of the age. Skilled Italian craftsmen created its ornately carved, hand-painted ceilings. English walnut was imported and installed on walls throughout, and no expense was spared on marble for its stairways and basement vault. Today, every effort is being made to preserve these historically significant elements of the building as spaces such as the Founder's Room, lobby, executive dining room, and vault are restored - and transformed - to create an entirely new life for this historic building.
