Our community has made a commitment to support the environment by installing the first geo-thermal well system in downtown Bellevue to assist in heating the hot water supply to all our apartment homes, as well as other energy-saving mechanical systems, and Energy Star® rated appliances in every apartment. The series of wells that extend from 200 to 300 feet below ground naturally heat the water supply to the apartment homes, resulting in a carbon output savings equivalent to the intake of over 5,300 trees annually as compared to conventional electrical energy water heating systems. Soma also features the Endless Forest, a strip of evergreen trees in the center of the project, between walls of mirror glass that infinitely reflect the vegetation and capture as much natural light as possible.
