NW Santa Rosa

The seat of Sonoma County is the most populous city in California's wine country, but it still retains its sleepy character. The area has been home to native Pomo tribes, European settlers and a Wells Fargo outpost. Today, the neighborhood of northwest Santa Rosa houses a diverse population of people across all social and economic groups.

Santa Rosa is part of the North Bay region that includes Petaluma, Healdsburg, Sonoma and Sebastopol. In this part of California, US Route 101 is called the Redwood Highway or Highway 101. It's the main thoroughfare to and from San Francisco, about 55 miles to the south.

Major employers in the northwest Santa Rosa area include Kaiser Permanente, Agilent Technologies and River Rock Casino.
