1) What is the Apartments.com Possession Obsession Contest?
Apartments.com is looking for renters who have crazy collections that have taken over their apartments. These collectors have the chance to win $20,000 from Apartments.com when they send in a video that documents their "Possession Obsession".
2) When does the contest launch and what are key dates to remember?
The Apartments.com Possession Obsession Contest officially launches Monday, August 13, 2007 with the "Call for Entries" phase. Entries will be accepted until midnight on Monday, September 10, 2007.

3) When can people enter the Apartments.com Possession Obsession Contest?
Submissions will be accepted between Monday, August 13 and Monday September 10, 2007.

Entries can be submitted at www.apartments.com/possessionobsession.
5) What does the video need to include?
Each video submitted to the Apartments.com Possession Obsession Contest must be no longer than two minutes in length. The videos must include footage of the person who owns the collection, may not include footage of any person other than the owner of the collection, must include a statement within the first 20 seconds indicating that the video is being submitted for the Apartments.com Possession Obsession Contest, and can not include unsuitable or offensive content or content that violates copyrights or trademarks. The video must include only collections that the entrant owns himself/herself.
6) Who is eligible for this contest?
The Apartments.com Possession Obsession Contest is open to legal residents of the United States and the District of Columbia (excluding Alaska, Hawaii, Tennessee, U.S. territories, U.S. military installations, and where prohibited by law), who are at least 18 years of age as of August 13, 2007. To be eligible, the entrant must live in a rental apartment and maintain ownership of the possessions in the apartment which are featured in the submitted video from the date the video is submitted until November 30, 2007. There is no purchase necessary to enter and only one entry will be accepted per person. Employees of Classified Ventures, LLC., its parent companies (Tribune Co., Gannett Co., Inc., Belo Corp., the Washington Post Company, and McClatchy, Inc.), subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, current advertisers on www.apartments.com, or those associated with the development, distribution or implementation of this contest, and members of their respective immediate families (parents, children, siblings and their respective spouses) and their household members are not eligible.
7) How is the winner selected?
Three finalists will be chosen by Apartments.com and those videos will be posted on www.apartments.com/possessionobsession. Between September 17 and October 19, 2007 the general public will be able to vote on their favorite video. Public voting will end at midnight October 19, 2007 and the finalist with the most votes will win the Grand Prize.
8) How will the entries be judged?
Entries are judged based on the inclusion of the following in each video:
- How the "Possession Obsession" began;
- How the "Possession Obsession" has taken over the owner’s apartment;
- How extreme the obsession is;
- Funny experiences that have occurred because of the "Possession Obsession".
The videos should be original and will be heavily weighted for creativity and humor.
9) I see there is a maximum length of two minutes for my video entry, is there a minimum length for the video?
There is no minimum length for the video, however the videos must be long enough to include footage of the collection, the person who owns the collection and it must include a statement within the first 20 seconds indicating that the video is being submitted for the Apartments.com Possession Obsession Contest. Remember the videos will be judged on creativity, originality and humor.
10) What do the winners win?
The Grand Prize winner will receive a check in the amount of $20,000 and each of the two finalists will receive a check in the amount of $500.
11) How will the finalists and Grand Prize winners be notified that they won?
The finalists will be notified by a representative of Apartments.com between September 11 and September 14, 2007. When finalists have agreed to the terms and conditions of the contest, their videos will be placed on www.apartments.com/possessionobsession for voting. On or around October 29, 2007 a Grand Prize Winner will be selected and notified by Apartments.com based on the total number of votes for each video.
12) Can someone enter the contest if they don’t have a video?
No, only video submissions will be accepted.
13) What is Shycast?
Shycast is a service that is hosting the video submission and viewing technology for the contest. The "Enter Contest" and "View Video" pages are supported by Shycast’s technology. Shycast provides an automated video contest engine specifically created for a seamless contest entry and video judging experience.
14) How do I view videos of "Possession Obsession" entries?
Video entries will be posted on the official contest Web site located at www.apartments.com/possessionobsession. Click the "view videos" link at the top of the page. Once on the "View Videos" page, click on the triangle in the center of the video to play. Use the controls at the bottom of the video to pause, replay, or adjust the volume.
15) I saw a video on (YouTube, Bebo, Revver, etc.) about this contest, how do I enter?
Entries can be submitted at www.apartments.com/possessionobsession. Click the "enter contest" button, register, and upload your video.
16) I saw "Possession Obsession" on MySpace. How do I enter?
Entries can be submitted at www.apartments.com/possessionobsession. Click the "enter contest" button, register, and upload your video.
17) What is VideoEgg and why do I have to download it to submit my entry?
Apartments.com has partnered with Shycast to provide the video upload and view technology for the "Possession Obsession" contest. As part of its service, Shycast works with VideoEgg, an industry leader in video streaming technology, for their video upload technology. It is necessary to download VideoEgg to enter the Apartments.com Possession Obsession Contest. The download only takes a couple minutes.
