Marshall/Albion

Albion and Marshall are located 13 miles apart in the south central region of the lower peninsula of Michigan, about 20 miles southeast of Battle Creek. They are both small towns in a traditional Midwest style.

Marshall is famous for its 19th-century architecture with over 850 homes and businesses part the National Register of Historic Places and is one of the largest National Historic Landmark Districts in the country.

Nearby Albion is known as the Forks because it is located where the north and south branches of the Kalamazoo River meet and hosts the Festival of the Forks, celebrating the city’s heritage. The Festival is an annual event, held the first weekend in September, with over 10,000 attendees enjoying food, music, cars and general celebration.

In its earliest days Albion was known as a manufacturing town because of the many mills powered by the river. With the decline of manufacturing, today’s Albion and Marshall face the challenges typical of a small towns.
