FAQ

Q: What is Rental Alert?
A: Rental Alert is a free service from Apartments.com that will notify you when a new rental listing that matches your search criteria is entered in our database.
Q: How often are new rental listings added?
A: Apartments.com has new rental listings everyday in many cities all over the country. The frequency of notifications from your Rental Alert subscription will vary based on the city where you are searching. In cities where Apartments.com has partnerships with local newspapers, your Rental Alert listings may also contain local newspaper classified rental ads.
Q: What are my search criteria and can I change them?
A: The criteria for your Rental Alert search are: the geographic area that you searched in (either with the maps or by entering a city/state or ZIP Code) the rent range you selected (if any); and the number of bedrooms you selected (if any). These criteria cannot be changed for your existing Rental Alert search, but you can easily conduct a new search with the criteria you want and then sign-up for Rental Alert again.
Q: Why do I get an email and then the page on Apartments.com says "no listings for search?"
A: The Rental Alert notification email is time sensitive. Our database of new rental listings is always changing so it is possible that the new listing has expired. It is best to view new rental listings within 8 hours of when you received the notification email. You can always conduct a search on Apartments.com to see all the current rental listings in the database that match your criteria.
Q: How do I cancel my Rental Alert?
A: Go to the Rental Alert page to unsubscribe. Enter your email address and click "unsubscribe" to stop receiving Rental Alerts. You can also unsubscribe by clicking the link in the bottom of your Rental Alert email.
Q: I signed up for a Rental Alert subscription, but I'm not receiving any emails. Why not?
A: Rental Alert will only send you an email notification if there are new listings in our rental database that match your search criteria. If there are no new rental listings that match, then Rental Alert does not send you an email. If you go more than a few days without any email notifications, then you might want to reconsider the search criteria for your Rental Alert subscription. Search criteria that are too specific or impractical for a certain market (i.e. $800 2-bedroom apartments in Manhattan) may result in no matches.
