Each week, the Apartments.com Photography Team selects a photo taken by one of our Digital Photographers that truly represents the type of photographs that Apartments.com uses to showcase a property. These images are not only really successful at capturing the space and architecture of a property, but they are all-around great photos!
The Photo of the Week this week is an inviting fitness center, shot by Team Lead Dan Kohler at the Avonlea at Towne Lake in Woodstock, GA.
The Photography team loves this photo for a couple of reasons: Dan does a great job of making the space look larger than it is by including the seating adjacent to the fitness machines. According to Casey Sachen (Manager of the Eastern Region), “The image is made more interesting by including the lounge area.” “The framing is nice,” agrees Vern Steinman (Manager of the Western Region), “and shows both the equipment and the environment, which the property likes to show when they invest into a fitness area.”
Dan also has great success with using his flash to even out the lighting, as it is usually difficult to balance both light and dark areas in this type of space. “Dan does a good job of handling the difficult lighting situation of bright windows and dark walls,” adds Casey, and Mandana Namvar (Director of Digital Photography) points out that Dan not only “captures the unique layout of the space, but his lighting is also evenly exposed with minimal distortion from the wide angle lens.” Vern agrees that “the image shows good use of the available light and showcases the photographer’s skills of using his flash to balance it out.”
