  • Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Milwaukee may be known as the Brew City, but there is so much more to it than beer. The city offers a picturesque location right along the shores of Lake Michigan with plenty to do and see, regardless of what your interests may be. When you choose to move to this city that is rich in history, you will find it easy to get around with great commuting opportunities, whether you choose to live in the heart of the city or one of its surrounding suburbs.

    Top Neighborhoods in Milwaukee, WI

Like all major cities across the country, Milwaukee has its great neighborhoods and those many want to avoid. Where you live depends on what interest you have. For instance, the East Side is popular among the younger population and offers close proximity to the beaches of Lake Michigan and the parks that line the waterfront. Walker's Point is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city. While there are other older neighborhoods left, this one remains the most active and lively, with everything residents need close by. If art and history are more your style, the Historic Third Ward can also be a great place to live. Finally, Sherman Park on the city's northwest side offers a diverse economic and cultural atmosphere with serene tree-lined streets.

    Cultural Attractions in Milwaukee, WI

Many of the apartments located within the city of Milwaukee place you in close proximity to the cultural attractions available. Milwaukee has a rich cultural history with a diverse population of individuals from many areas of the globe. Throughout the summer months, the city celebrates each of these cultures through a series of festivals themed after the cultures found in Milwaukee, including African World Fest, German Fest, Irish Fest, Indian Summer Festival, Festa Italiana and many more. Summerfest is also held on the same grounds for 10 days in the summer and has been dubbed the largest music festival in the world.

In addition to these summer festivals, Milwaukee residents can immerse themselves in other cultural attractions located throughout the city. The Pabst Theater and the Riverside Theater both feature concerts and shows to suit any interest. The Milwaukee Public Museum offers a great overview of history in general, as well as a peak into the past of this great city. The Miller Brewery tour, located right in the heart of downtown, is also a favorite among visitors and residents alike. Many of the city's historical buildings are also intact, some of which offer tours, including the Pabst Mansion, former home of Captain Frederick Pabst, founder of the Pabst Brewery. Nature lovers will also enjoy the numerous, beautifully-maintained Milwaukee County Parks, located throughout the city and the surrounding communities.

    Nightlife in Milwaukee, WI

The nightlife in Milwaukee is one of the greatest attractions to living in this city. Because of its strong history in the beer industry, you can find bars on just about every street corner in the city. While many of these bars are your typical establishments, Milwaukee is home to some unique options for having a night out with friends or meeting new people. The Safe House is located in a discreet alley location right on the Milwaukee River. Patrons to this secret spy-themed bar need to know the secret password to get in or complete a "mission" before gaining entrance. Mo's Irish Pub is another popular night spot for residents.

Bars aren't the only nightlife you will find in Milwaukee, though. The Edelweiss is a boat touring company that offers more than just daytime tours of the Milwaukee River and Lake Michigan; they also offer sunset and dinner cruises and host special events, as well as private charters in the evening, If you love jazz music, the Jazz Estate offers live music every night of the week. Shank Hall and The Rave are also popular spots for enjoying live music and other entertainment. For those who enjoy comedy over music, Comedy Sportz can be a great place to hang out in the evenings. Potawatomi Bingo and Casino is also open all day every day, including late-night bingo sessions. Milwaukee nightlife is alive and well, providing something everyone can enjoy.

    Sports in Milwaukee, WI

Milwaukee is home to a number of sports teams, both on the major circuit and the minor circuits. Sports lovers can find just about anything within the city. The BMO Harris Bradley Center is home to the Milwaukee Bucks NBA team and the Milwaukee Admirals hockey team. The venue also plays host to other traveling sports events, such as figure skating, professional wrestling and monster truck shows. Milwaukee is also home to Miller Park, the home of the MLB's Milwaukee Brewers. The city is also home to the indoor soccer team, the Milwaukee Wave. This team plays downtown at the U.S. Cellular Arena.

Though not a professional team, there are other sports opportunities in the city of Milwaukee. For instance, the Brew City Bruisers is a female roller derby team that practices and plays in the city. The Milwaukee Mile at Wisconsin State Fair Park plays host to racing events in all major racing circuits, and the Petite National Ice Center trains and races speed skaters from around the world. In addition, Milwaukee is home to several college-level teams, including Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, both NCAA Division I teams.
