West Seattle is a great place to call home, with easy access to Lincoln Park and the Alki beach path.     The University District (U-District), Wallingford, South Lake Union and Capitol Hill are bustling, energized (albeit somewhat congested) neighborhoods in the heart of Seattle. Some of Seattle's more affordable but pleasant neighborhoods include Shoreline to the north, Burien and White Center to the south/southwest, and Georgetown just south of downtown. With over 80 live music clubs and 15 symphony orchestras, Seattle has the highest club and music event attendance per capita in the U.S. The Bumbershoot music festival, held over Labor Day weekend, is one of the world's largest. The Seattle International Film Festival showcases filmmakers from around the world. Seattle is home to 29 professional theaters, seven theaters schools and 56 "fringe" theater companies. Love books? East of the waterfront, the Elliott Bay Book Co. is a Seattle institution featuring both new and used titles. Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park is another awesome Seattle-area bookstore and writer's hangout.

    There's definitely no shortage of great coffee and exquisite cuisine in the greater Seattle area. You can grab coffee at Peet's or the original Starbucks location near Pike Place Market, but there are many other excellent coffee chains to choose from: Tully'sCafe LadroDiva Espresso as well as lots of independent cafes. If you're down at Pike Place Market early enough, have breakfast at the Athenian Inn or Lowell's. For breakfast and lunch, just about every type of cuisine is represented in Seattle, from Brazilian steak houses to excellent Thai, your pick of Mexican food and an abundance of Indian restaurants (try a lunch buffet.) Love Asian food and culture? Visit International District downtown for a satisfying dim sum experience. You can sample Ethiopian fare as well as Middle Eastern, Greek, Russian and even Hawaiian, but you should have lunch in the Space Needle at least once (or whenever you have first-time visitors from out of town.) Salty's restaurant on Alki offers excellent seafood along with great Puget Sound views, as do Ray's and Anthony's in Ballard.

    Seattle has plenty to see and do for the sports lover all year round, with professional teams represented in both baseball and football; the Seattle Mariners are consistently competitive in their league, and what's not to love about the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks? The Seattle Sounders thrill soccer fans, and the Seattle Storm is beloved by women's basketball fans across the state. The locals also love their college teams - you can root for the U of WA Huskies as they take on the WA State Cougars.
