Rated 4 out of 5?by A number Great Place to Live- Just don't expect customer service
I have lived here at Dominion Park for just over a year (yes, I recently renewed my lease.) The location, for me, is the selling point- across from USAA and less than a minute from I-10. The apartment itself if fairly modern, and only gently worn, and the maintenance technicians are fast and effective. It's pet friendly (deposit required), but don't get caught without a leash and trash bag because threatening letters are the norm.
Pool is nice, gym is mediocre, and the laundromat- it hasn't worked since I've been here.
My issue is with the Dominion Park Management/ Staff's customer service- or LACK thereof. If you find yourself in need of any special considerations, you can forget it. I avoid that office like the plague. Making a rent payment is easy- as long as it's in person and during hours that are convenient for them. (I've literally rushed across town to make a timely payment, only to have the manager lock the door behind her and shake her finger at me as I attempted to open the door. It was well within their posted hours on EVERY major apartment website- but not only do they take no responsibility for what a third party advertises- THEY WOULDN'T OPEN THE DOOR for a resident because they missed closing time by 10 seconds. The next day, that same rep charged my the $50 late fee without consideration for anything. Paying over the phone? Forget it. That's not an option... unless you pay late after returning from military training and ask if you can remove one day of late fees because your flight was delayed- you're told military orders mean nothing- you should have paid by phone. Contradictory, condescending, and just poor service.
Obviously, I'm displeased with how I'm treated by the office staff despite the fact I am a reasonable, passive, non-confrontational, and hard working resident. I do not complain and this is the first review I've ever written- which should tell you something.
I have received at least 4 eviction notices- posted inside my door- for "multiple noise complaints during daylight hours" (after returning from week long business trip) and others because they miscalculated a $5.00 trash fee: leaving me delinquent and evicted (discovered only after I walked the letter to them to clarify.) They allow you until the 3rd of the month to pay your rent- that is fair and reasonable- but they have no compassion whatsoever for life's curve-balls.
I renewed out of convenience and location. I admit, if I didn't have the occasional payment issues, I wouldn't have to deal with the management and I may not feel this way- but I have never been delinquent more than a day yet have been made to feel like a freeloader.
They did me a favor by not charging me an inflated monthly rate so I would renew my contract because again- I didn't come in at a time convenient for them. Don't ask me what their hours are- I still don't know.
Overall, I suppose if you pay early each month (which you must calculate yourself and catch them in a good mood), don't interact with the front office, and don't expect to be treated like a human being, this truly is a great place to live!
