My stay at Ashley House was less than luxurious.
After paying our rent on time for 8 months, my husband obtained a job position that required our relocation. We had to submit a 60 day notice of our intent to vacate. This notice ended our stay at Ashley House on the 8th of January. Ashley House wanted nearly 3 thousand dollars within 2 weeks of the notice! We let them know that my husbands company would pay all the fees associated with the early termination of the lease. The office manager Monica called my husband at 5 on a Saturday telling him we would be evicted if we didnt pay the money and they would not honor our 60 day notice. I attempted to call her back on several occasion but never spoke to her. We were never evicted but she did lock us out of our apartment early 3 days early. The movers came on the 4th and we began the cleaning process. Not to receive a reimbursement on our deposit but simply because the gave me an itemized list of the things they would be charging for if not cleaned to their standards. On the 5th the locks were changed and we could no longer gain access to our apartment I need to point out this is 3 days before our lease would end. This is completely unacceptable and I do believe a breach of contract. After locking us out and refusing to allow us to clean the carpet they charged us 250 for cleaning.
Not to mention.
The shrubbery was overgrown, the beds were not mulched, the sprinkler systems were left malfunctioning for weeks without repair. During the day we could hear music and noise coming from the apartments below us. The thermostat in our apartment was ancient. It broke and maintenance came out three different times to "repair" the broken thermostat before it was replaced. The dryer had little pieces of plastic inside that would snag and ruin my clothes. It took forever to dry my clothes because the duct was clogged. The freezer door would not open completely due to the poor layout of the apartment. I would not pull out the ice tray. The keypad to the entry main had no light on it for 7 of the 8 months we resided at Ashley House. The dumpster was left open and trash was visible for days. The office staff never returns phone calls or answers the phone for that matter.
