Apartments.com Soars Past the Competition into Number One Spot

Apartment Rental Site Reaches More Renters Than Any Other Site

CHICAGOJuly 20, 2000—Apartments.com (www.apartments.com), the leading national online apartment guide and a member of the newly formed HomeScape.com network (www.homescape.com), has advanced past its competitors to become the number one Web site in the residential rental real estate category, according to June Media Metrix reports.

Media Metrix' most recent report places Apartments.com as the rental real estate Web site that generates the highest number of unique visitors and page views, while maintaining the highest competitive reach in the category. Apartments.com's traffic grew to more than 715,000 unique visitors in June, 9.15 million page views and a competitive reach of .9 percent, the highest in all three categories.

"Apartments.com has always had the most visual online advertisements, comprehensive listings information and decision-assistance tools, and consumers have responded by choosing Apartments.com as the site to find their next apartment," said Matt Wise, vice president and general manager of HomeScape.com, which operates Apartments.com. "We expect that Apartments.com advertisers will see an increase in leads and leases as our traffic continues to grow."

Apartments.com's unique visitors have consistently been increasing since November of last year until overtaking its competitors this month. Apartments.com expects this growth to continue due in part to the promotional power of its affiliate network or more than 130 newspapers and its new positioning with the HomeScape.com real estate network, where consumers have access to a comprehensive destination for real estate-related information and tools.

Apartments.com's sister site, NewHomeNetwork.com (www.newhomenetwork.com) simultaneously moved into the number one position in traffic, according to the June Media Metrix report. Both traffic jumps preceded the launch of HomeScape.com, a national real estate Web site that addresses every aspect of the move experience.
