Apartments.com Leaps to First Place in Traffic

ALEXANDRIA, VAJune 21, 2000—Apartments.com (www.apartments.com), a leading national online apartment guide and a member of the HomeScape.com network, has advanced into past its competitors to reach the number one position in terms of traffic, according to June Media Metrix reports.

Approximately 30 leasing professionals attended the first training session for the new module to gain a basic understanding of the Internet as well as to learn the best strategies for attracting potential residents online and converting them to signed renters. The module covers basic knowledge of how the Internet functions, demographics of those searching for apartments online, how to track online leads, fundamentals of email communication, utilizing free online sources, how to use the Internet while talking with prospects over the phone, how to maximize online advertising and how to effectively close leads using the Internet.

"We are very excited that our collaborative efforts with Apartments.com have produced such an appropriate and timely course," said Douglas S. Culkin, CAE, CIE, (Certified Association Executive, Certified Insurance Counselor), executive vice president of NAA. "Helping today's leasing professionals to embrace Internet technology will only help the multifamily industry flourish."

Since leasing professionals are usually the first people prospective residents meet, whether online or in person, it is increasingly important that they portray the quality of the property's staff. The NALP program currently has 1,200 designates in good standing.

"This new module will give leasing professionals a solid grounding in online technology and provide a foundation for Internet marketing," said Greg Seyller, national director of sales, Apartments.com. "Apartments.com will continue to support the multifamily industry and provide the educational and marketing tools that leasing professionals need to be successful online."

Apartments.com is also helping to revamp the overall course and develop new distance-learning options. Apartments.com is a member of the National Supplier's Council, comprised of over 90 NAA vendor members dedicated to the multifamily industry.
