Rated 1 out of 5?by Be Warned I lived here for 3 years. When I first moved in, Halstead had just taken over the complex. Parking was a huge problem (no spots left) even though they require parking permits. Halstead did a great job fixing this problem. The area is great and easy access to 202, 322, Phoenixville Pike, 100, and many other major roads. More than 20 places deliver food to this location. The problems are with the staff and the maintenance. The office staff is typically helpful, unless you are dealing with Susan. She is blatantly rude, and if she's not in the office, she wants nothing to do with the company. She was supposed to return my phone calls a few times, and instead waited until I handed in my next rent check to discuss the situation. The maintenance is god awful. After receiving water damage from a frozen pipe, they removed our cabinet to replace it. Once removed, it took them over a month to come back and put the old, water damaged cabinet back in. We had to wait another full year until a new, undamaged cabinet was put in. Our A/C units had to be recharged at least 2-3 times every summer to function properly (aka, A/C unit needs to be replaced due to a leak and they refuse). Our fridge was dying. The freezer was constantly dripping water into the fridge. Over three times the fridge/freezer did not keep our food cold for over 24 hours. I threw away about a thousand dollars worth of food total. When I asked them to take it out of our rent, I was told maintenance properly documented it as being our fault, and that our freezer was too full. After much Googling and having my HVAC/Freezer system certified friend come look at it, it was obviously dying. In all honesty, two different people came to perform maintenance. One said he did not agree with the other and that the fridge would need to be replaced. Of course they never wrote that part down and kept denying that person ever working on it. It took over 2 years for the maintenance staff to leave a note of what they fixed/didn't fix when they entered our apartment. Not leaving this list was a breach of contract, but Halstead didn't care. I have been yelled at by the main maintenance man, and he called me a liar. Both times he was at fault, and I had the paperwork to prove it. Still, not a single apology. In the end, I am the customer. The noise level is pretty low, most of the time. Many young adults lived there, so most weekends someone is having a party and blasting their music, enough to hear it and keep me from sleeping. In the morning you hear all of the trucks/traffic nearby and from the industrial park on Fern Hill. Lastly, I received a letter talking about the smell of the place. The letter read that there is a common (shared) attic and that smells go from one apartment to another because of it. Using this logic, it is impossible to tell which apartment it is coming from, since they are all shared. Thus, every apartment should receive this letter. When I asked my neighbors, they did not receive one. Since nothing changed from the first two years until the third year when the letter was received, I have no idea what it was about. The office staff never mentioned anything to me personally. All I know is that I was singled out, with no evidence to back it up and honestly, I have no idea why it was sent to me. Okay, I lied, this is the last part. During a storm I received some water damage on my ceiling. I mentioned it to the staff, and they claimed to have come around to every apartment, inspecting it for water damage. Nothing was ever done about it, or the clearly broken air conditioner. Rated 1 out of 5?by Don't Make the Mistake and Rent here!!!!!!!!!!! Where to begin OMG. Firstly, the apartment was not ready to move in on the date our move was set for and they were fixing things for 2 weeks after we had moved in. There was a huge ant infestation and bug problem. The property manager comes off nice when your thinking of renting then turns evil anytime you bring a problem or concern to her attention. Watch out for the lease agreement!!!! This is the only apartment we ever rented which made you pay for Carpet cleaning once you left (this mind you after we had an entire cleaning crew come in and make the apartment spotless). No pool, small gym, and they get over on you at this place. I highly recommend looking for another property before you become a victim like us. October 8, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5?by PERFECT APARTMENT, CUTE INSIDE, GREAT FENCED IN BARK PARK! This apartment is very cute, the sun shines in through all the windows every morning and makes the apartment very enjoyable to live in. Compared to other apartments in the west chester area, this one is definitely my favorite that I have lived in. The bark park is located on the property grounds which is fenced in for your dogs to have fun while being safe to run off leash!! The inside of the apartment is open, bright and you are allowed to paint the walls; which will make any apartment look even better than plain white walls. Love Love love this apartment and the staff is super friendly!! Great apartment complex to live in. April 9, 2013
