    • Finding Apartments For Rent in Tulsa, OK

Amenities will vary by community. Many complexes are gated and offer pools or gyms. Smaller apartment buildings in Midtown may lack these features, however. Smaller buildings typically offer private entrances to your apartment rather than a locked door, but this isn't always the case. Patios and balconies are especially common in Tulsa, so make sure to bring your patio furniture!

      Top Neighborhoods in Tulsa, OK

Cherry Street in Midtown is one of Tulsa's most walkable neighborhoods. It's perfect if you're active and into the younger and artier scene. There are plenty of used book stores, coffee shops and other mom-and-pop establishments. Housing typically consists of small bungalows or apartment buildings. Midtown as a whole is a larger area that tends to be younger and hipper, but the neighborhoods can vary. Not all of them are as walkable as Cherry Street.

Broken Arrow is the place to be is safety if your number one concern. An active police force cuts down on crime, and it's the largest suburb in the area. In fact, Broken Arrow spans two counties: Tulsa and Wagoner.

Owasso is not only a safe place to live, but the schools are rated highly. The active Chamber of Commerce means that there's plenty to do, parks are clean and updated and you're connected to the rest of Tulsa and the country by two expressways. Jinks is another neighborhood with good schools.

You won't be in Tulsa long before you heard of Riverview. This walkable neighborhood has plenty of bars and restaurants if you enjoy nightlife, and apartment buildings range in size. This is also an historic district, so you can enjoy walking by man of the older homes that have been restored to their original glory.

      Weather in Tulsa, OK

Given its location, Tulsa experiences relatively mild weather conditions in both summer and winter. During the warmest summer months, the average high is in the low 90s, and Tulsa misses the scorching heat that is easily felt one state over in Texas. Sunny days mean that you should still break out the sun block, but you don't have to lock yourself inside during the entire summer because of sweltering heat.

These mild conditions extend to winter, too. Tulsa residents won't see temperature dip much below freezing if they even get that low. Because of this, Tulsa experiences more rain than any other precipitation, especially in May, and the air is rather humid due to air movements from the Gulf of Mexico.

      Transportation in Tulsa, OK

The main mode of public transportation is by bus. Tulsa Transit serves the entire area with almost two dozen routes. Four routes are available until at least 12:30 AM, so it's easy to get where you need to be. You can pay with cash or purchase a pass at a Quik Trip retailer. While waiting for the bus, there are heated transit stations at Denver Ave. and Memorial Midtown.

You can download day and night route maps from the official website, and Tulsa Transit even offers riders GPS tracking via mobile website, which helps you never miss the bus. It's just as easy to find out about bus detours due to inclement weather and other factors. If you're a cyclist, buses are equipped with bike racks.

      Cultural Attractions in Tulsa, OK

Tulsa might not be a cultural Mecca like Chicago or a melting pot like New York City, but that doesn't mean that the city lacks culture. In fact, Tulsa was the location of a Native American tribe, the Cherokees, and the city has the Cherokee Nation Welcome Center. Visitors can stop by to learn about the Cherokee tribe and pick up souvenirs like pottery that are handed crafted by members of the tribe.

Another destination in Tulsa is the Walter Arts Center, part of Holland Hall which combines both performing and fine arts. There are multiple large theater rooms where you can enjoy dances, plays and musical shows. Past performances include those by the Tulsa Ballet Theatre, Tulsa Philharmonic and Tulsa Opera Theatre Company. The venue also has space for 2D and 3D art, and you can enroll in instruction for music and vocal talent at Walter Arts Center.

Finally, there are a number of museums in Tulsa. If you're interested in aeronautics or engineering, the Tulsa Air and Space Museum on East Avenue is for you. Families can enjoy Discovery Lab, which introduces children to science through tunnels made of tape and beds of nails. Beware that it can become quite busy during school breaks. For more serious entertainment, the Tulsa Historical Society teaches about the area's history, including a features on Native American dancers. Similarly, The Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art focuses on one particular group of people who have lived in Tulsa, and you can learn about Jewish culture when you visit.
