I would never recommend Hoigaard Village to any prospective renter. The management staff is rude and condescending. We are professionals with advanced degrees, we are very dependable tenants, we clean up after ourselves and have treated this home with respect. Yet, when we need to interact with the staff, we are treated as though we are unruly college students. It seems they are ready for an argument any time I have called for help with an issue. Overall, the communication we have received both personally and in the form of mass announcements, is unprofessional at best.
My husband and I have two small children and a dog. We decided to rent with Hoigaard because we were assured we could allow our dog to relieve herself in the front 'yard' as long as we cleaned up after her. This was very important to us since my husband travels frequently and after the kids go to bed I can't just leave my children unattended to take my dog 1.5 blocks to the dog run area. After about 6 months of living here, all of a sudden signs popped up in the grass in front saying to 'Keep Dogs Off Grass'. No notification or explanation was sent out in advance of this change.
Since the development is immediately adjacent to train tracks, we asked about the noise level. We were assured that it is quiet - which again is important since I need for my kids to sleep both at nap time and at night. It is not quiet.
We were relocated to MN for my husband's job and will be communicating our dissatisfaction with Hoigaard Village to his company so that they don't put any other employees through the frustration we have experienced. We have moved a few times for his job and have lived in other temporary housing units such as this, but all have been pleasant experiences - this is by far the worst experience we've had. We've also owned a rental property in the past and have had about 4 tenants over the period of time we owned the property. We would never have treated our tenants the way we have been treated thus far at Hoigaard. After reading some of the other reviews regarding Hoigaard Village (along with continuing conversations with other residents), it seems we are not alone in our frustrations

I haven't lived here but I just had an experience with them that left me very uncomfortable. Before looking at any apartments I disclosed that I had gone through a foreclosure in 2012 and the leasing agent assured me that only my credit rating mattered. Ten days later I talked to the credit check person and she stated that "Because my foreclosure indicated an eviction had been filed, I was not approved." I explained to her that an eviction filing is a normal part of the foreclosure process. It happens on all foreclosures. She said "No, it's not and I won't argue with you." I sent her information showing that she did not understand foreclosures, but it didn't matter. I lost my $50 application fee. If you've been through foreclosure and before giving them any money - ASK them if an eviction filing will eliminate you.
