Rated 1 out of 5?by Wallawalla28 AVOID AT ALL COSTS ***AVOID RENTING HERE*** WHEN I MOVED IN: All sorts of problems: cupboards, floors, appliances, kitchen drawers all dirty, dusty and stained - obviously no one bothered to clean them. Bathroom had mold growing in corners of shower. Mold behind bathroom door trim. Chipped tile floor. Water temp. in shower would go ice cold to boiling hot in seconds. Also, shower and faucets would sometimes produce dirty/black/brown water (happened while showering once, followed by cold water). My dishwasher leaked, flooded the kitchen. My cupoards don't stay closed. Doors didn't lock/stay closed. Paint all over the hard wood floors. Trim was broken/molding off frame. Light sockets were painted over and didn't work/sparked when trying to use. Oven overheats beyond normal function (wire short circuit in top burner). Screen on patio door was broken/didn't slide well and came off track. No digital thermostat control - controlled by an archaic knob on floor-board heaters which are dusty, dirty, has wrappers/objects in them (fire hazzard). Central air ducts are extremely loud (but central air IS still nice to have). I could go on, but won't. EXPERIENCES LIVING THERE: The people living in my building were generally nice people, polite and no issues here. The staff is useless, aside letting you know when snow removal was coming and when rent was due. I had to go to the maintenance staff directly via phone to get anything fixed (Arturo is their saving grace, he can/will fix anything and was always super friendly!). The noise? Yeah, get ready to hear EVERY step above you. And if you live by the stairs like I did, have fun. They creak and moan worse than anything. They have "secure" package holding - meaning they dump packages in a bin and people can essentially take anything they want. They don't verify identity when picking up packages, in stead, you sign a name and apartment number and walk out (super secure...). The free "fitness facility" is complete garbage, completely dirty, out dated and honestly un-safe for use. In short...if you're looking for a quality place to live, don't live here. Pay the additional $200-$300 and find a nicer looking, more quality constructed place. If all you need is a hole to crawl in to, then by all means tour Melrose Gates. Chances are 50/50 the lady you talk with is hung over and won't care about your questions. Let's not forget, there have been two fires in two years here... Pros of this place? Free tanning and it's cheap rent!!! April 26, 2013
