Energy Saving Tips

Making your rental energy efficient will save you money in operating costs but can also add the value of your property when it’s time to sell. There are a number of simple things you can do whether your property is brand new or older.

Make sure you have the best insulation possible because this will help keep things cooler in summer and warmer in the winter. Insulating your doors and windows is important too because heating and cooling bills will be lower and you will be saving energy. When you purchase new windows and doors check out their Energy Star rating.  It also helps to have fuel and energy efficient heating and cooling systems in place. Upgrades can be expensive but they will save you money in the long run.

In some areas local organizations, government agencies or utilities will help you with everything from advice to providing actual subsidies for making energy smart choices. You can also hire energy conservation experts to help you assess your property and even better, the money you spend on that is tax deductible.
