Rated 3 out of 5?by Halsted Apartments I have an 11-year old cat who is neutered, declawed and I found out that this complex does not allow pets so that is a no go for me. June 1, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5?by The Worst of the Worst Worst apartment experience ever. These are the most overprices apartments in the city. If you want to live in a below average apartment, with thin walls, bug problems, and zero amenities, have at it. If anything breaks the average repair time seems to be at least a month. Miserable staff. Wish I could give them zero stars. May 25, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5?by Dump These places are total dumps. They charge insane prices for sub par apartments. Don't be fooled. The place has nothing to offer and they will raise your rent a couple hundred dollars a month every year. The elevator in my building has been broken for about 5 weeks now. WEEKS! Find a cheaper and nicer apartment. April 30, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5?by A great apartment... if you're deaf! There are many reasons why renting a Halsted Place Apartment is a colossal mistake, however the biggest for me was the noise. The floors are strung by wood (not concrete) and are extremely thin. Some tenants in the building referred to the situation this created as the "basketball players upstairs." I personally lived beneath what sounded like a herd of OCD-suffering elephants. I got to relive my college dorm years again, but with higher rent and no RA (or noise clause in the lease) to quiet things down. The only reason they are doing any renovations is because they have to. The absolute bare minimum was done to maintain these buildings since their construction in the 1980s - original flooring in the common areas, original (cheap) kitchen cabinets falling off the hinges, appliances that don't work, leaky plumbing fixtures, drafty windows. Any modernization effort you see is merely lipstick put on a pig. A great apartment... if you're deaf. April 21, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5?by Look Elsewhere I had high hopes for this place, and I was really let down. My "updated" apartment is garbage. I'm pretty sure they created them with the cheapest materials possible. There is ZERO security in my building. The building doesn't have a doorman, which I knew moving in. But there are no security cameras, and it seems like random people are coming and going as they please. The lights in the stairwell have been out for well over a month and they seem to have no interest in replacing them. Walls are paper thin and I constantly have to listen to one some party going on either on my floor or above me. I highly regret signing this lease. LOOK ELSEWHERE! February 27, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5?by Brutal I hate this place. Can't wait to move out. Priced waaay too high. The women in the office are rude and could care less about helping any of the tenants. The building I'm in has a terrible bug problem. The common areas are dirty and seem rarely cleaned. Trash is constantly building up in the garbage rooms and stinks up the entire hallway. I know from myself and others in the building that they have been raising everyone's rent. Look elsewhere. Every other apartment in Chicago is a better deal than here. February 3, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5?by The Worst These apartments are terrible. The new management company is the worst. The apartments shown in the pictures are closer to $1800. You're paying for the zero amenities. Buildings are old. And the other overpriced apts are garbage. All the apartments are drafty so on top of everything else you get huge electric bills. The water pressure is terrible. Bugs everywhere and rats in the back parking lots are a common sight. They could care less about helping you. Getting something fixed in your apartment is near impossible. The woman in the office is extremely unresponsive. Moving here has been one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made. The rent increases are ridiculous. Save yourself some money and an unnecessary headache and don't move in. I wish I could give a zero rating. February 3, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5?by Sketchy I live in one of the units now and I'm not happy with the way I was treated. Raising my rent significantly with little notice. I'm looking forward to leaving. January 15, 2013
