Finding Apartments for Rent in Mountain View, CA
Mountain View is home to almost 75,000 residents and has been a town and city since 1902. It has a long history in technology, being home to one of the first tech companies in 1956. Today, the city is also a bustling home to much of Silicon Valley, particularly younger companies and their employees. The location is highly desirable for young people and those working with the multitude of tech companies that call Mountain View headquarters.
Neighborhoods in Mountain View, CA
While the downtown area of Mountain View is predominantly retail, it has a number of smaller unique shops that make the zone attractive for both regular and discretionary shopping. For places to live, there is competition. The city is only 12 square acres in size, so overcrowding is already an issue. Most apartments are located on the eastern side of route 101, and Oakwood is a regular recommendation for newly relocating folks.
Weather in Mountain View, CA
Mountain View enjoys the benefits of being protected by an inland valley formation but not being too close to the coast. This allows the city to avoid the marine layer overcast gloom and perennial 60 degree weather so common in San Francisco. Instead, Mountain View enjoys summers that are comfortable without reaching above 90 degrees and winters that are mild, albeit occasionally wet with typical rain.
Transportation Options in Mountain View, CA
Located right above the confluence of Interstate 680 and 880 as well as the overlap of route 101, Mountain View enjoys the unique benefits of the South Bay along with three other cities: San Jose, Fremont, and Santa Clara. The major transportation tool is personal vehicles, but there are a number of bus lines that run regularly through the city for basic support. The Downtown Mountain View Transportation Center connects residents with farther reaching train systems, bus lines, shuttles and company vans. The town is also in close proximity to Fremont which is the southern end of the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system. That train complex reaches San Francisco as well as deep into Contra Costa County to the northeast.
Nightlife in Mountain View, CA
Clearly, the city's Shoreline Amphitheater dominates the bill in terms of nightlife and concert watching. Sitting right across from the Google headquarters, the Shoreline has been home to concerts for years, with both a seating and general lawn area. Everyone from Lady Gaga to Depeche Mode to Beyonce' has been seen at the venue at one time or another. In addition, Mountain View has fairly close driving access to an assortment of evening restaurants, bars, night clubs and music venues, both nearby and in the Bay Area. Additionally, just up the Interstate is the Oakland Coliseum, yet another large venue for both entertainment concerts as well as Sports. Further, Mountain View is just a stone's throw away for anyone interested in professional football in Santa Clara or professional hockey in San Jose.
Again, the area is by no means a bargain, but it does offer close proximity to many of the big name tech companies. So those who are landing a related career or have one can benefit greatly from avoiding the commute and living right next to their work location in a prime city and quality of life.View Apartments in Mountain View, California
