    • Top Neighborhoods in Los Angeles, CA

For those who are single, shopping convenience, entertainment, transportation, and weather are important considerations in choosing a neighborhood. For those with families, good schools, low crime rates, and family fun are additional considerations. Here are some options:

      • Mid-City West: This area was rated highest in Los Angeles (by streetadvisor.com) as an overall interesting place to live. Located between Culver City and downtown LA, it has one of the highest population densities in LA County. It has museums, theaters, great restaurants, a farmers market, and more within easy walking distance.
      • Los Feliz: The 2nd best-rated neighborhood is Los Feliz, known for its old-time California/Hollywood feel. It is also a walkable neighborhood, located near Griffith Park, with boutiques, bohemian cafes, great bars, and a comedy club.
      • Toluca Lake: Low crime rate and low population density are this area's main attractions for families. There's lots of room to play outdoors, it's safe for kids, and it's close to Universal Studios, where movies and TV shows are filmed.
      • Brentwood: This is one of the most beautiful places to live with top-notch schools and well-educated residents. It's located west of downtown near the hills and just north of Santa Monica.
      • Culver City: This highly diverse, interesting neighborhood also has great schools and a relatively low crime rate. It's located just inland from Venice Beach and Marina del Rey.

Cultural Attractions in Los Angeles, CA

Los Angeles is one of the entertainment capitals of the world. There is so much to do there that it's almost impossible to experience it all. Not only are there great places to watch movies and maybe talk to the filmmakers, like Grauman's Chinese Theater, but you can also watch movies being made, or be in the audience of a talk show as it's filming at Universal Studios. For classical music, stage shows, ballet, and opera there are the LA Music Center with seven venues and the Hollywood Bowl, and for street theater there is the Cornerstone Theater Company. There are museums galore, also well known, like the LA Natural History Museum if you like nature, or the J. Paul Getty Museum and LA County Museum of Art (LACMA) if you like art history. And there's Griffith Park Observatory for hiking, outdoor plays, and looking at the stars. The LA County Zoo is well known for its wild animals, petting zoo, and botanical gardens. Los Angeles also has historical architecture, an increasing number of parks, great beaches, a huge farmers market, and good public transportation.

      Sports in Los Angeles, CA

Los Angeles hosts a number of professional sports teams, including the LA Lakers (men) and Sparks (women) basketball teams, the LA Dodgers baseball team, the LA Galaxy soccer team, and the LA Kings for ice hockey. In addition, Los Angeles offers an extensive sports program for kids as part of its LA Parks programs.

      Weather in Los Angeles, CA

Weather in Los Angeles is generally dry, sunny, and warm. Temperatures range from lows of 27 F to highs of 74 F in the winter and lows of 65 F to highs of 98 F in summer. Areas close to the beaches and those closest to the mountains are usually cooler than the city itself. It seldom rains, which is a problem for water supply, creating a strong need for residents to conserve water as much as possible. The city itself uses reclaimed water to irrigate parks and planted meridians.
