These apartments are not worth the money that is charged to live in them!
The office staff is nice to your face, but they will be the first to throw you under the bus if the owners come down on them for any problems or mistakes. They will try to squeeze every penny out of you that they can. They pay for no utilities. The only things they offer are a poorly stocked "fitness center" and a pool. So be prepared to factor in at least another $300 for basic bills each month on top of the rent. There are so many better options in Dothan for much cheaper. Do you really want to pay that much for "apartment living" - no privacy, lots of noise, limited space? The apartments are very cheaply built and the actual rooms look nothing like the model room that you will see on the tour. So also factor in however much you want to pay for fans or lights in your rooms. I just read another review on a different site about these apartments that mentioned a bug problem. Let me tell you, there are SO many tiny cockroaches and spiders in these apartments! They say that pest control is included but it is essentially ineffective. My boyfriend lived there for a year and as soon as his lease was up we moved him out. Anytime there was a bad storm we would stay at my place because those buildings are all cheap wood and siding and you don't want to be getting tornado warnings while you're in a place like that. Also, these apartments are much more noisy than any apartments I have ever lived in or been in. You can hear everything. You can even clearly make out words of the people in the apartments around you sometimes, and they can do the same. Maintenance is also a pain to deal with because nothing gets fixed fast and certainly not properly because whatever it is will usually will break again.
Overall, I would not recommend anyone to move into Highland Hills. Even the new apartments they are building are going up just as cheaply and poorly as the first bunch.

I lived here for two years. These are the newest apartments in Dothan and the most expensive but the apartments are far better than any other units in Dothan. The office Staff was ALWAYS very helpful and nice, and looked at atleast 8 apartment complexes before I chose. This office staff always went above and beyond to help me. The noise is an issue but I know it is part of apartment living. There aren't a lot of amenities per say, a gym and pool, the basics.

We visited these apartments and found them to be beautiful and just what we were looking for with high ceilings, larger than average rooms; upscale appliances and a screened porch. If we had not been able to lease another local apartment, this would have been our choice. However, the rate was over $100/month more than comparable and the pet deposit was $500. The soon to be available brand new units were rising our of the orange mud when we were looking.
