Rated 2.5 out of 5?by 2 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5?by Not the Best Value With every apartment, there are pros and cons. Unfortunately, this has been one of the least pleasant experiences that we've had in apartment living. The goal the whole time was to transition to purchasing, so we have no intention of living here long term. Thank goodness our end is near! On the day that my husband came, he was told the unit had fleas and they have taken steps to fix it. It took 4 months for our unit to be free from fleas, I vacuumed everyday, we lived from boxes because I was afraid that the fleas would infest the toys, linens and clothes. We didn't buy furniture because we were afraid that the fleas would invest a new couch. The management came and sprayed (though their pest control guy was shady), and cleaned my carpets. I sprayed, used flea powder on the carpets and mattresses, and spent several hundreds on vacuum bags over the four months we had them. While that was happening, our neighbors toilets kept overflowing, and would leak into our unit. Their shower also had a leak?which ran into our unit. The facilities guys would come and fix it all, but then I am left to mop up the mess. The units are old, some are updated, but that really only means decor. The safety gate has only worked about 60% of the time that I have lived here. We also chose to pay a little bit more because we thought the safety gate was a good deterrent for people who don't live here. It would be great if it worked more than "some of the time." There are many pet owners here, and while some a great, others have no regard for the rules. There are several pet owners that let their dogs run around off leash. We are not pet people, so we'll walk to our car and have one dog rush at us from behind the bushes. We've spoken politely to the owner and they make excuses, so then we talked to management. The issue stopped for a month? The kicker though, is you can't break your lease without paying through the nose. Be careful of the concession fee?the management advertises "specials" so that you think you get your unit at a discounted rate. If you break the lease, you are responsible for the difference in the discounted price and the "market" price. It is broken up by months, so the longer you stay and are closer to your lease end, the more you pay. If you break your lease after 2 months, you only have to pay the concession fee for 2 months. We have to pay 10 months, so we owe 10 months of fees. The staff is very nice (although there is a bit of turnover), the facilities people are nice and all of our requests were met. The staff can't help when residents chose to disregard rules and are inconsiderate. April 15, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5?by Good mgt & maintenance, other stuff varies These were built in the 1980's, they are a little frayed (ex: windows) but they maintain them very well, I had 4-5 things that needed handling pretty quick after moving in and they responded very fast. My building happens to be very close to a main drag so excessive road noise; downstairs neighbor gets overly loud sometimes, but that's apartment living. The buildings higher up the hill would be quieter I'm sure. I'm only here for a few months. They do extensive background checks on prospective tenants so no criminals, etc, here (hopefully). Just the usual stuff. It's a decent place, and the grounds are very pretty, lots of woods. November 10, 2013
